This is our design for a Brutalist Chapel. Brutalism comes from the French word Béton brut which means “raw concrete” and Brutalist buildings are characterized by minimalist constructions that showcase the bare building materials and structural elements over decorative design. The chapel was designed to balance the light and shadows that give privacy and a solemn approach. Inspired From The Church of Light, The light travels across the room that bounces through raw concrete. Large windows are also so cool air goes inside the building. The Design Concept is a House as the chapel imitates as our second home.
Overall the Design was Simple and Elegant. Minimalist Brut design that plays with shade and shadows. The Interior ceiling is wood cladding that sets the mood to make feel less heat inside the building. Greenery is also included in the design with the use of hanging plants that filters the air. Folding wood glass doors are used in the side entrance of the chapel to keep it open fresh air and PWD railings are also considered and the height elevation of the total floor area is just 400mm from the ground just like a normal house elevation that gives comfort and welcoming for everyone
Rentable spaces are also considered because the chapel can also get an assistance from this where people could rent a space for chapel necessity
The mezzanine floor area is where the choir can sing without interruption or be seen for the public they have their own space that echoes their voice inside the building
The pastors/Priest Office is where the admin is located where people could have an appointment or When there is no mass being held this area where you can find the admin of the chapel. Located at the bottom of the mezzanine floor.
