A restaurant design requires sufficient space planning, especially because it is a commercial building with much greater circulation than conventional residential constructions. In order to properly utilize all of the areas in this internal space, careful planning is essential.
Aside from the food, the restaurant’s general appearance is what draws guests in. The way a passer-by perceives the interior areas must always be appealing.
The following are some significant aspects to consider while constructing a restaurant:
Theme
The restaurant’s theme serves as the foundation for the entire design. It determines how the spaces will be used and what materials will be used.
Ambience
Another important aspect of restaurant design is creating the right atmosphere. A pleasant ambiance piques the customer’s attention and contributes to the creation of a light atmosphere, which is especially important given that this is a dining establishment. One of the most significant aspects of creating a good atmosphere is the proper use of lighting in the interior space.
Universal Design
If a restaurant has a special bathroom for those with impairments or the PWDs, it’s a plus points! According to the building codes, it is an absolute must. Having the same floor level is also advantageous because user circulation will not be impeded.
Storage Rooms
Another consideration is the amount of storage space available. The storage rooms, on the other hand, must always play a defined duty. Creating a storage room specifically for dry items, another for refrigerated goods, a third for frozen goods, and even a storage room for equipment and utensils is one example of this. Restaurants may or may not feature all of these rooms, depending on the type of food served and the design motif.
Kitchen
The kitchen is the busiest area of the restaurant; thus, areas must be carefully planned to allow cooks and servers to work without interfering. The appearance of the kitchens may vary depending on the restaurant’s concept. It can be closed off from the dining room or left open, as shown in the illustration below.
Staffs’ Area
It is essential to provide a staff lounge where they can relax in between shifts. In order to keep things organized, they must also have their own toilet and powder room.
