Exterior Perspective
Since the end of 2019 up until today, we Filipinos face a large threat which is the Covid-19 . It had caused a lot of inconvenience, human health being at the top of the list. But, as time passes, we learn how unprepared we are, thus, unexpected situations like this pandemic had rendered a large portion of the population, disabled. What we need now is a facility that answers to today’s problem and that is a Covid-19 Vaccination and Biotesting Center with Drive Through. This facility’s main objective is to grant patients a space where they can go to for PCR tests and Covid vaccines without feeling rushed or cramped. The center will prioritize serving comfortability and safety to its client.
- Biotesting Area’s Lobby
To create a secure and comfortable waiting area or lobby for the Biotesting Area, the pathways should be spacious to prevent patients from bumping into each other. In this project’s case, the seats have enough distance in front of each other which also gives the patients enough space to walk towards wherever they wish to go to. There’s also plenty of windows by the counter which grant receptionists or admin to take up many customers without the area getting crowded.
Biotesting Area
PCR swabbing tests are conducted here, the area should also be spacious to encourage physical distancing. This also grants security and comfortability to patients. After PCR Testing, patients are advised to exit the premise to prevent the room being overcrowded.
- Vaccination Area Lobby
As the Covid-19 Center is designed with a One-Way Transaction as the main concept, Vaccination also has its own lobby for patients who wish to get vaccinated.
- Pre-Vaccine Vital Checking Area
In this area, there is a big space provided in the case of a surge in patients who wish to get vaccinated, the big space in the middle can also accommodate seats for patients. This idea is put into consideration, hence, the big space in the middle. There is also a storage room inside, this can help the admin, nurses’, or doctors lessen the time wasted as the materials they need can be easily accessed in the area.
Vaccination Area
A space designed for the purpose of dividing crowds ad turn them into smaller groups. This type of subdivision of spaces grants the patients the ability to easily grasp the facility’s system. This prevents chaotic situations in occurring.
Post Vaccine Waiting Area
It is required that after getting the vaccination for Covid-19, the patient has to wait at least 30 minutes to check for side effects. The center is designed to accommodate the needs and requirements of the patients after getting vaccinated. The seats are placed fairly apart so as to not cause disturbance who are passing by. There’s also a receptionist counter stationed in the room to notify the patients if they are allowed to go.
Laboratory
Another important space in a Covid-19 Biotesting Center is the laboratory. The space should have enough space for laboratory equipments and files as well as tables for conducting PCR tests to check if they are positive if Covid or not.
Drive Thru Biotesting and Vaccination Area
To prevent overcrowding inside the facility, drive thru’s that provide PCR testing and Covid-19 vaccination services are needed in order to give patients’ the immediate attention they need, lessening the time wasted and aiding to the growing numbers of people who are becoming immune to Covid-19’s threats.
Female Public Restroom
Restrooms are a bit scary now especially amidst pandemic, but in this facility, restrooms are designed to give clients or patients a space where they will feel security in doing their business. The restrooms should also have spacious cubicles, spacious pathways, and lavatories. There should also be sanitizers and soap located by the lavatories and by the entrance.
Men’s Public Restroom
For the female’s convenience, there should also be a vending machine of sanitary napkins and tissues. Toilet paper dispenser should also be provided near the entrance and in every cubicles. Lastly, there should be a bidet spray to prevent unsanitary situations.
PWD Restroom
There should also be restrooms that exist solely for the use of people with disability. Like the other restroom features, it should have spacious dry area so that wheelchairs can be brought inside. It should be allowed to pivot to grant access to people with disability. There should be a trash bin, toilet dispenser, bidet spray, lavatory, and a mirror. But most of all, there should be railings to help the person sit on the toilet seat without getting into an accident.
Administration Office
Apart from the patients, there should also be spaces where the administrative personnel that will grant them comfortability while working. This serves as a big factor for an employee’s efficiency.
Meeting Room
A meeting room is needed as this allows admin’s, nurses, and doctors to talk about important matters regarding Covid-19 or other matters that will improve the hospital’s value. Curtains can be provided if private matters that cannot be disclosed to other employees are being discussed, other than that, the employees’ inside the meeting room can have their meeting while the plants outside can give them a sense of calmness.
Landscape – 2nd Floor
Landscapes give more comfort than human’s expect them to. At break time, employees’ can chill outside the office while talking to their colleagues.
Admin/Doctors/ Nurses Lounge
For Admin employees, this type of lounge is enough to give them the coffee break they need. A larger room for lounge is also encouraged especially for doctors and nurses as they have heavy tasks as they deal with people who might be infected. The lounge should have comfortable furnitures that can grant the workers a peaceful break. For Nurses’ and Doctors’ shower and restroom, there should be an area that has a wall partition where lockers are located. This will give them a sense of security for their belongings.
Waste Management Building
Waste Management buildings are important to every hospital as the trash coming from the facility could be highly infectious or dangerous when touched especially if they are sharp. The rooms have color coded signs: Green for General Waste; Red for Infectious Plastic Wastes; Yellow for Glass Wastes; and White for Sharp Object Wastes. This can prevent accidents and infections from occurring or spreading.
Utility Rooms
Utility rooms are also important as they are what the maintenance crew checks in order for the hospital to function well and avoid inconveniencing the patients.
